Regular, effective cleaning can keep glass and aluminium surfaces looking good year after year.
Cleaning is essential to combat the effects of exposure to ultra violet light, atmospheric pollution, general dirt, grime and airborne salt deposits. Left untreated, these will accumulate over time and damage window and glass surfaces.
It is very important that the windows are maintained to avoid warranty cancellation by such suppliers as Dulux Powdercoaters.
As a general rule, cleaning should take place at least every six months. In areas where pollutants are more prevalent, such as coastal and industrial areas, cleaning programs should be carried out more frequently, at least every 3 months.
Particular attention should be paid to surfaces that are not normally washed by rain fall.
Wet the area with clean fresh running water to remove any loose deposits, dirt or dust. Use a soft wet sponge rather than risk micro scratching the surface by dry dusting.
Dip sponge into warm water mixed with a mild detergent or car wash cleaner and wipe all surfaces.
Rinse thoroughly with clean fresh running water to remove any remaining detergents.
For best results, wipe excess water with a clean chamois or dry cloth.
Use only a light mix of water (90%) and methylated spirits (10%) to remedy stubborn stains on window and door frames.
The use of harsh solvents such as brick cleaning fluids, turps and alkaline based products will permanently damage the powder coated/anodised surface integrity of the applied finish on aluminium windows and door frames.
